To be eligible, animals must achieve at minimal one 1 of the qualifying show placings as outlined below while owned by or in partnership with an Ontario member. Senior animals cow classes must qualify while in milking form, including Milking Yearlings, and only show placings while in milking form will be considered relevant.
Summer calves may qualify via a Junior Calf Class, but only if a Summer Calf Class is not available at the qualifying show. Only results from valid show classes, as recognized by Holstein Canada, will be eligible to be included. The date and location of these 4-H shows needs to be submitted to Holstein Ontario prior to the show date and a complete marked catalogue must be sent to the Branch office no later than 15 days after the shows.

Additionally, 12 randomly-selected voting results will be compiled from the 18 sets of results to determine the All-Ontario winner for each class. Top placing animals will be recognized as All-Ontario, Reserve All-Ontario, and Honourable Mention All-Ontario respectively, followed by 3 nominated animals 4 in the case of a tie. Prior to voting, an effort will be made to allow each entrant 24 hours to review the accuracy of their entry via a live link, as well as view others in the class.
Entrants will be notified of the final results via email. Results will be published in the Winter issue of The Link Magazine.

He acquired acres of land in Eastern Ontario from the Crown in Today, years later, that farm at Greely, ON, is still proudly in the Quinn family and home to Quinndale Holsteins, owned and operated by Leonard and Shirley Quinn and two of their daughters, Erin and Laurie. In the s, Leonard remembers. Quinn, if you expect to have any more than another 10 years you need to change your lifestyle. The Quinns retained their open and short-bred heifers and as these animals approached calving they were sold, many going to Pennsylvania through local cattle dealer John Raison.
When that group was gone, Earl bought more heifers at various herd dispersals and raised and sold them. He also continued to raise and exhibit Yorkshire, Landrace and Hampshire pigs at many major and local shows. The Quinns have won several banners over the years, including the Premier Breeder and Exhibitor banners at the CarletonRussell Show in and Jemima eventually classified 6E.
Leonard attended Kemptville Agricultural College and graduated in the spring of My Mother and Dad, and two younger siblings, provided a lot of support and physical help to me those early years. Sam Rathwell who bred Rockdale President was secretary of the club and was tickled pink when that cow won a red ribbon at the show that year.
Together they have worked side-by-side on the farm ever since. She has served on a number of industry committees and still helps with a lot of the county show sponsorships and awards. The Quinns have three daughters: Krista, who lives in Guelph and works for Service Canada, and Erin and Laurie, who farm full-time with their parents. She worked at home mornings and nights and drove to school everyday while getting her degree.
Laurie, an accomplished clipper who does all the clipping for their shows and classification, is a graduate of the Agriculture Herdsman course at Kemptville Agricultural College. Proudly fitted by her sister, Laurie, Erin showed Thunder to a firstplace finish in the Summer Yearling class and Reserve Champion overall. The Quinns currently milk 58 Holsteins in their tie-stall barn. Cows are pastured from May to October and fed a TMR of corn silage, haylage, supplement, roasted soybeans and ground dry corn, topped with some dry hay.
Their farm now encompasses acres of land on which they grow corn and hay. Classification is a very special day around Quinndale…and with good reason. To date, the Quinns have bred 76 Excellent cows! Quite an achievement for a small, per cent homebred herd that has basically been a closed herd for nearly 50 years.
